Sammy the dog

Sammy is the pet dog of Chessy, Nick, and Hallie Parker.[]

When Annie (disguised as Hallie) came to the house, Sammy barked in a panic, because her scent was different from Hallie's. Chessy was worried about what was going on, and when Annie revealed herself, Chessy hugged her and cried happy tears. A few days later, when they arrived at a hotel with Nick to meet Meredith and her parents, Sammy joined them. Hallie was in the elevator, and Sammy barked, jumped over a "hurdle," ran to the elevator, and into Hallie's arms.

Sammy got to know Annie, and eventually came to like her. Near the end of the movie, he was resting on Hallie's bed while she and Annie were playing cards.
